    The cherry blossom is called "Sakura" in Japanese.
There are about 600 kinds of cherry blossoms, the most famous kind of cherry blossom is called "Someiyoshino".      The oldest tree of cherry blossoms is estimated to be over 1800 years old.   The cherry blossom is not a national flower, but it is a flower representing Japan from ancient. 
    The blooming time is dependent on temperature in February and March, but it is from end of March to early April every year.    The various cherry blossoms can be seen throughout the Japan.  In Japan, it is called "Hanami" to see the cherry blossoms.   However, "Hanami" has another meaning.  In this season, families, friends and coworkers of a company are gathering, drink and eat some dishes under the cherry blossoms.  Such a party is also called "Hanami".   Japanese people love the cherry blossoms.

The 1st: Miharu Taki Sakura
"Taki" means waterfall in Japanese language.
One of the "Godai-Zakura(5 of the biggest Sakura).
It is estimated to be over 1000 years old

Blooming time: The middle to end of April
Location: Miharu-cho Tamura-gun, Fukushima-ken
The 2nd: Sakura at Shin-Sakaigawa Tsutsumi (Hyakujuro Sakura)
"Shin-Sakaigawa Tsusumi" means Dike of Shin-Sakai-river in Japanese language.
The 1000 or more cherry trees are planted in dike of the both sides of a river.
One of the Best 100 Cherry Blossoms in Japan".

Location: Naka-Monzenmachi Kagamihara-shi, Gifu-ken
The 3rd: Sakura in Daigo-ji Temple
"Daigo-ji" is one of tnmple in Kyoto.
Famous "Hanami" was performed for the first time by Hideyoshi Toyotomi in the 16th. century.
In the beginning, "Kawazu-zakura" bloom in the middle in March and then "Shidare-zakura", "Somei-yoshino", "Yama^Zakura", "Yae^Zakura", "Obeni-shidare-zakura" and "Oyama-zakura" bloom for 3 months.
Location: Daigo-Higashi-Oji-machi, Fushimi-ku Kyoto-shi
The 4th: Chidorigafuchi
"Chidorigafuchi" is a part of Kitanomaru-Park in Imperial Palace.
Nearby Hibiya Park and Yasukuni Jinja are also famous Hanami spots!

The 5th: Sakura at Ueno-Koen(park)
Ueno Park and JR Ueno Station is walking distance.
There are some art museum, museum and zoo.
You can see beautiful cherry blossoms and a lovely animals.

The 6th: Takada-jo(castle)
The Takada-jo Castle was built in 1614
One of the three major nocturnal views of cherry blossoms
.There are about 4000 chreey trees in castle park.
Blooming time: Beginning of April to middle of April

Location: Honjo-machi Joetsu-shi, Niigata-ken
The 7th: Yamataka Jindai Sakura
Yamataka Jindai Sakura is in the precincts of a Jisso-ji temple.
The age of this tree is estimated to be 2000 from 1800,
This tree is one of the five major cherry trees in Japan.

Location: Yamataka takekawamachi Hokuto-shi Yamanashi-ken
The 8th: Shizunai "Nijukken-Doro(street)" Sakura

"Nijukken" means about 36-meter and it is the width of this road.
There are about 3000 cherry trees on the both sides of this road.
Blooming time in 2013: Beginning of May


Location: Shizunai Shin-Hidaka-cho Hidaka-gun, Hokkaido
The 9th: Kitagami-shi Koen(Park)
"Kitagami-shi Koen" is a park in along the Kitagami-river.
There are over 10000 cherry trees and 100000 Tsutuji trees.

Blooming time of Tsutsuji: Middle of May
Location: Tachibana Kitagami-shi, Iwate-ken
The 10th: Zoheikyoku(Minting Authority)
It is a 560-meter row of cherry trees in the Osaka Mint Bureau.
This is a site of a government organization.
Therefore, it is opened wide only for about one week every year.

SAKURA-MOCHI
 Sakura-Mochi is one of the Japanese sweets.
 Red bean paste is wrapped in rice cake,
 and it is wrapped in the leaf of the cherry tree preserved in salt.

 We can buy Sakura-Mochi at department store, Japanese Sweets store, and convenience store.

 Red beans paste : ANKO or AN
 Rice cake : MOCHI
SAKURA-FUBUKI
 Fubuki means "blowing snow" or "snow stom".
 If the cherry blossoms bloom and several days pass, petal of cherry blossoms will fall like snow.
 The ground changes to white or pink with the petal of cherry blossoms
 Such scenery is called "Sakurafubuki"
 Japanese people love cherry blossoms until fall from blooming.
